Vibren announces software development suite to accelerate Microsoft Windows CE custom user interface development.

Boxborough, MA (PRWEB) January 24, 2005 -- Vibren Technologies, an industry leader in embedded systems engineering, today announced availability of ATOMS, a software development suite that revolutionizes the way developers create custom user interface shells for Microsoft Windows CE. Based on HTML and XML technology, ATOMS allows developers to easily create custom user interface shells for Windows CE-based devices.

Based on a modular architecture, ATOMS supports technology modules that expose technology supported in the Windows CE operating system. The ATOMS technology modules support a wide range of technologies for input, communications and messaging allowing designers to extend the functionality of their embedded devices.

The ATOMS suite is breakthrough engineering. The software helps deliver high value-add customization and functionality to a variety of vertical industries," said Michael Boehm, chief software architect, ViewSonic Corp. We are supporting ATOMS on our airsync® V210 Wireless Display and will continue to work with Vibren on future platforms."

Prior to the availability of the ATOMS software suite, embedded systems designers would need to develop a user interface shell using standard application development tools which could be time consuming. Because ATOMS is based on HTML and XML, developers can now use web tools to create compelling user interfaces for specific look-and feel more quickly and easily.

Many application-specific mobile devices now used in commercial applications contain unnecessary features that are not needed for a specific application or device. Workers could find devices difficult to use because too many features are exposed through a standard interface. ATOMS makes it easy for a device developer to expose only the control panel items and configurations options needed for a specific device or application.

We know first hand how difficult and time consuming it can be to build out custom user interface shells," said Ray Shapiro, director of engineering, Vibren. We have created a software suite that makes it quick and easy for developers to create customized user interface shells with lock down capability."

The ATOMS software development suite helps to expand the selection of easy-to-use tools available to Windows CE developers for creating fixed-function devices," said Jane Gilson, group product manager, Mobile and Embedded Devices Division at Microsoft Corp. Were pleased to see companies such as Vibren take advantage of the updated communications technologies and comprehensive, unified toolset in Windows CE 5.0 to bring this additional value to developers."

Our unique arrangement with Macromedia allowed us to incorporate Macromedia Flash Player technology into our ATOMS software suite." said Tom DeSisto, vice president of business development, Vibren. This combination allows our customers to create customer facing solutions with optimized rich content."

ATOMS is hardware independent and can be ported to any kiosk, tablet or handheld device running Microsoft Windows CE 4.2 or higher.
The ATOMS SDK runs on any PC running Windows 2000 or Windows XP. The ATOMS SDK includes the ATOMS Emulator, Oxygen XML Editor with Vibren XSD (schema definition files), sample user interface templates, tutorial and support.
