Culver City endorses the industrys only Network-Based Admission Management solution from Vernier Networks. The Vernier Networks Trusted Network Admission Management module will reduce intrusion risks from vulnerable devices.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA (PRWEB) January 26, 2005 -- http://www.verniernetworks.com - At the recent CSI Conference, Vernier Networks® announced that it offers the only network-based admission management solution in the industry. Verniers Trusted Network Admission Management (TNAM), a key module of the Vernier Adaptive Security Platform (ASP), can now screen-and-block traffic from vulnerable devices as well as support client-less 802.1x authentication for wired and wireless networks. These features join existing ones that include AAA, containment and dynamic access policy control based on the state of the device.

Vernier's latest product update is another reminder that the vendor is now a competitor in the field of enterprise security, challenging the biggest and oldest players in this arena by offering more efficient ways to secure networks," wrote Max Smetannikov, security analyst of the451.com, a market research firm, in a Market Impact Report, titled "Vernier Networks focuses exclusively on security," published on Oct. 24, 2004.

Based on packet-tagging technology, Verniers new security screening feature can either block access or tag traffic for further inspection from vulnerable devices attempting to gain access to the network. In addition to screening, tagging and blocking, Vernier can authenticate and authorize the user of the device as well. These capabilities guarantee that only clean devices and authenticated users can access the network, significantly reducing intrusion risks introduced by vulnerable devices.

Since we are a public network open to anyone with a laptop in the city, we take all the precautions necessary to secure our network – network admission management is top on our list," said Carlos Vega, IT manager for City of Culver City. We chose the Vernier ASP because it features comprehensive network admission functionality from patch management to this new security screening feature to assure that devices are clean before they get access to the network. By reducing risk of infection, we potentially save our small IT staff hundreds of hours of work."

Verniers Network Admission: A Client-less Solution
Unlike other network admissions solutions in the marketplace, Verniers TNAM requires no additional client software on the desktop. Organizations already have too many security systems management, and patch-management desktop software, and they simply dont need another client on their desktops. Verniers network admission security solution integrates with existing desktop solutions, such as PATCHLINK UPDATE, thus reducing the overall cost of ownership without comprising security.

Vernier now supports single sign-on based on the 802.1x standard, which allows for the seamless use of wired and wireless networks. 802.1x reduces multiple password issues and unsafe password practices, as well as eliminates time-consuming authentication tasks for end-users as they move from network to network or building to building, thus improving employee productivity.

Our market-leading network admission management capabilities extend beyond widely deployed AAA-based solutions by screening both the user and the status of their device before access to the network is granted to proactively defend enterprise networks from recent security threats," said Doug Klein, chief technology officer of Vernier Networks. Verniers strength in stringent network admission and partnerships with best-of-breed security vendors creates a comprehensive, integrated network security solution, enabling our customers to build the most secure networks and protect those networks with a coordinated defense – not just isolated point products that dont work together."

Fully Integrated Security
The Vernier Adaptive Security Platform addresses internal and external attacks with five layers of network security, designed to provide enterprises with the most rigorous and stringent security controls for their wired and wireless networks. The Vernier ASP includes: Trusted Network Design, Trusted Network Admission, Trusted Network Defense, Trusted Network Outbreak Management and Trusted Network Remediation. These layers reduce the possibility of an attack, and if an attack occurs, resolve the attack immediately, while adapting policy to prevent future threats to the network. The result is an unprecedented level of network security and an assurance of network continuity.

The Vernier Trusted Network Admission Management solution is available at a list price of $3300 for a 1000 user license, and up to $40,000 for a large enterprise of 25,000 users.
