Real World Gaming Announces New Alternate Reality Game

Download this press release as an Adobe PDF document.

Colin Brennan the creator of Project: Gateway is about to launch his second game, Wildfire Industries.

(PRWEB) January 22, 2005 -- Alternate Reality Gaming has woke up the online computer gaming industry with the HALO 2 promotion found at www.ilovebees.com. The game boasted over a million players and took the new genre to a new more visible level.

Alternate Reality Gaming is a cross-media game that deliberately blurs the line between the in-game and out-of-game experiences. While games may primarily be centered around online resources, often events that happen inside the game reality will "reach out" into the players' lives in order to bring them together. Elements of the plotline may be provided to the players in almost any form, some of those used have been:

1. E-mail.
2. Websites, both those obviously connected with the game and those innocent looking - often where the bulk of the game lies, these sites provide puzzles in many forms, e.g. cryptography.
3. Phone calls to a player's home, cell or work phone.
4. Land mail.
5. Newspaper articles or classified ads.
6. Chat/Instant messaging.
7. Real world artifacts related to the game in play.

Wildfire Industries is a large budget game with a high level of interactivity to provide a high level of immersion. The site advertising the game can be found at www.thisiswi.net/home.htm. The game will start January 28th 2005.

A couple in game sites are as followed:
www.wildfireindustries.com
www.rainmangroup.com

Players are using Immersion Unlimited to follow the story and to discover more. The site has specific rules to be found at www.immersionunlimited.com.

For those who are not comfortable, they can interact at any level, even just email. Real World Gaming will not use your info for purposes other than the game listed.
