HendlerLaw, The Nemeroff Law Firm and Richardson Patrick Westbrook and Brickman recently negotiated a settlement with Garlock in a case involving the mesothelioma death of Carl Ingraham. The case went to trial August 30, 2005 but was settled before a verdict was returned for twice the amount last offered at mediation.

Austin, Texas (PRWEB) October 5, 2005 -- HendlerLaw, The Nemeroff Law Firm and Richardson Patrick Westbrook and Brickman recently negotiated a settlement with Garlock in a case involving the mesothelioma death of Carl Ingraham. Mr. Ingraham, who died at age 58, was a boiler tender in the U.S. Navy between 1961 and 1965 on the USS Cimarron. The case was pursued by his widow Susan Ingraham.

The case went to trial August 30, 2005 but was settled before a verdict was returned for twice the amount last offered at mediation. "We're very pleased with the result we achieved. That Garlock settled for such a generous amount after the case went to the jury represents a clear victory for our client," commented Scott Hendler of HendlerLaw.

Mrs. Ingraham was represented by mesothelioma attorneys Rick Nemeroff of The Nemeroff Law Firm, Scott Hendler of HendlerLaw and Christian Hartley of Richardson Patrick Westbrook and Brickman.

The jury deliberated for 2 days in the 201st Judicial Court of Travis County, TX, (Austin) but Garlock settled before the jury returned a verdict. "The fact that Garlock settled prior to the jury verdict underscores the strength of the evidence against Garlock and Garlock's recognition of the weakness of their Chrysotile defense," said Christian Hartley of Richardson Patrick Westbrook and Brickman.

Mesothelioma is the incurable, deadly and extremely painful cancer caused by asbestos exposure. The expected survival rate for people diagnosed with mesothelioma is normally eight to twelve months.

Cause GN-102642; Susan Ingraham, Individually and as Personal Representative of the Estate of Carl Ingraham, vs. Garlock; In the 126th Judicial District of Travis County, Texas (Tried in the 201st Judicial District Court of Travis County, Texas)
