PHOENIXVILLE PA (PRWEB) October 5, 2005 -- Barnstone Gallery, Chester Countys newest art gallery, debuts on Friday, October 7, with a grand opening celebration featuring nationally-acclaimed painters, sculptors and craft artists.

Located in a historic stone barn on Pothouse Road, just outside Phoenixville, the gallerys grand opening celebration will also include live entertainment by a local jazz quartet, along with light refreshments. The public is invited.

With five large exhibit spaces, Barnstone is one of the largest galleries in the region devoted exclusively to contemporary American fine art. Barnstone represents more than 35 artists and craftspersons from throughout the United States, all working in different styles and media. In addition to painting and sculpture, Barnstone exhibits a full complement of original crafts, including glass, ceramics, and jewelry.

Barnstone is the fulfillment of gallery director Lynn Detwilers lifelong dream to present fine art in a friendly, down-to-earth setting.

The gallery is housed in a renovated nineteenth century dairy barn that has been in the Detwiler family since the early 1940s. Over that time, the property would become a lumber yard, antique store, and finally, Barnstone Gallery, when Lynn and husband Brint Detwiler reinvented the space to meet the cultural needs of their rapidly growing Chester County community.

As the mother of three children, Detwilers goal is to share her experience making art part of her familys everyday life. She envisions Barnstone as an artistic community center that involves people in surrounding neighborhoods. She plans outreach programs to local schools, including a separate gallery space for student art. Other events will make use of Barnstones ample meeting and conference facilities.

The Grand Opening Event will be held in the gallery space Friday, October 7, from 6 to 9 PM.

Barnstone Gallery is located at 388 W. Pothouse Road, Phoenixville, PA 19460. Telephone: 610.917.0140.
