Truckers Unite to Clean up Driver Pool

Anti-terrorism company launches campaign to assist professional drivers.

(PRWEB) October 18, 2005 -- Few would argue the profession of “truck driver” has taken a steady slide in image over the past several years. Twenty years ago, Dad's would advise their daughters to flag down a trucker if they ever found themselves broken down and stranded on the highway.

“What Dad would do that today?” asks Terry M. Evans, CEO of Fleet Defender Consulting Services, LLC a private company providing anti-terrorism support to the logistics industry.

“We have heard from hundreds of professional drivers from across the country voicing their disgust with the current level of the driver pool,” states CEO Evans. “Why should the professional driver be forced to compete with those who drive strung out on dope; abandon or sell their employer's equipment; falsify their employment applications and worse? These are the individuals that pose the greatest threat to the industry. Apart from diminishing the profession, their actions present a huge gap in our nation's security and swing the door wide open to terrorism.” claims Evans.

Based on driver feedback, Fleet Defender launched their "Take Back Our Profession" campaign. Drivers are encouraged to contact Fleet Defender and report incidents such as drug dealing at truck stops; intoxication; abandoned equipment; theft and such. Fleet Defender staff uses its vast industry contacts and network to directly provide Fleet Owners with this critical information and encourage them to investigate and take the necessary and appropriate actions. “We anticipate the end result will be to improve driver pay, driver standards and driver respect while together making the industry considerable less vulnerable to the threat of terrorism.” For further information visit the company website at www.fleetdefender.com
