Online Shopping For Holiday Season Starts Two Weekends Before Thanksgiving, Reveals Search Engine Marketing Firm iProspect

Optimization and Submission of Paid Inclusion Campaigns Must Be Completed by November 11 -- Finds iProspect’s iSEBA Tool

Watertown, MA October 17, 2005 – iProspect, the Original Search Engine Marketing Firm revealed today that online shopping for the holiday season will start in earnest two weekends prior to Thanksgiving. This indicates that online retailers have little time left for testing, optimization and submission of paid inclusion campaigns prior to online shopping volumes beginning to climb.

Historic data from iProspect’s paid search advertising tool, iSEBA, indicates that paid inclusion conversion volumes begin a dramatic increase two weekends prior to Thanksgiving. In order to maximize the results of paid inclusion campaigns during the peak holiday shopping season that follows, merchants should complete the testing of creative and landing pages by November 11th, 2005.

Yet again search engine marketing defies the rules of traditional marketing
The amount of time required for adequate testing depends on the number of variables tested, and on conversion volume. The more total conversions in any campaign, the less time it takes to test each variable. Paid inclusion campaign testing must be completed by November 11th so that the most productive combination of variables can be identified and put in place prior to the climb in online shopping.

“Yet again search engine marketing defies the rules of traditional marketing” notes Fredrick Marckini, CEO of iProspect. “Offline, the peak holiday season kicks-off the day after Thanksgiving. However, this data shows that search is simply another world with different rules. Marketers need to recognize that the increase in online conversions actually starts two weekends prior to the Thanksgiving.”

Marckini explained, “In order to fully capitalize on peak holiday conversions, marketers must to be locked and loaded with a solid strategy sooner than many have anticipated. Creative and landing page testing must begin now – today – and must be ready well in advance of Thanksgiving. Search marketers who wait until Thanksgiving will get a late start, and will miss out on a good chunk of holiday season sales.”
