Wilson will be installed as Presiding Bishop of Metropolitan Community Churches, the world’s largest predominantly gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Christian denomination. Wilson succeeds veteran human rights activist, the Reverend Dr. Troy D. Perry. More than 225,000 persons annually attend MCC programs and services at more than 250 local congregations in 23 countries.

The event is open to the public.
The media entrance will be the South Transept. This entrance is located on South Road opposite the Pilgrim Steps (just below the Pilgrim Steps is a statue of George Washington on horseback). A press area has been designated in the south balcony. No cameras will be allowed on the nave floor. Due to limited parking, media vehicles (television trucks) are prohibited on the Cathedral grounds.
Please understand that the cathedral is foremost a house of prayer. Maintaining a reverent and private atmosphere for prayer and spiritual contemplation while allowing media coverage of programs at Washington National Cathedral can be challenging. Our goal is to do everything possible to ensure the best media coverage while maintaining the mission of the cathedral.
