Advanced features such as fully automated workflow, custom notification, robust reporting and law-specific application integration are built into the newest platform designed specifically for attorneys and law firms.

New York, NY (PRWEB) November 7, 2005 -- Verdatum has released its latest product, the Verdatum Digital Dictation System version 2.0 Gold. This newest version offers lawyers, paralegals, legal secretaries, and law firm management such advanced features as:

  • Fully automated workflow, enabling attorneys to transfer dictation to secretarial support without entering any data, and allowing secretaries to return work to the attorney simply by completing it;
  • Custom security capability, allowing law firms to apply varying levels of security to even the most confidential of dictation work product, whether by firm, practice area, attorney, client, or matter;
  • Custom notification, allowing attorneys to determine whether they want to be notified that their work is completed through the program or by email to anywhere, including their Blackberry or other remote device;
  • Robust reporting enabling management to create custom reports on any data in the system which exports directly to MS Excel or Adobe; and
  • Law-specific application integration, allowing attorneys to create dictation directly out of their Case Management systems, save directly into their Document Management systems, or export data directly into their time and billing system.

“Version 2.0 is now the Gold standard for law firms seeking to pull their dictation onto the network and take advantage of the benefits of a digital system,” said John Methfessel, President and CEO of Verdatum. “We have taken the capability of dictation in the digital world and moved past everything in the market to provide legal specific solutions to law firms and corporate legal departments. This is not a medical system retrofitted to the legal market; this solution addresses the unique needs of law firms involving workflow, application integration and client matter security. We have also incorporated the Verdatum philosophy of tightly integrated document management into the design. Verdatum 2.0 is feature rich, easy to use and administer, and delivers a proven, quick return on investment.”

The system has cost recovery capabilities which allow the firm to automate the tracking and recovery of such costs as overtime secretarial work and outsourced transcription costs. The firm is able to easily tap into alternative labor such as the stay at home labor force while still tightly and securely tracking and controlling the firm’s work product. It allows them to obtain productivity reports on transcriptionists so that they can accurately evaluate and manage their employees.

Law firm management and IT are moving decisively toward application and process integration
The system allows attorneys to produce dictation on desktop or mobile hardware manufactured by such companies as Olympus or Philips. These are very similar to the machines they use now, yet attorneys can upload their dictation into the system from any internet connection, allowing them to increase billable time and client satisfaction. The entire process is automated, so the attorney needs very little training. The attorney maintains total control of the dictation, with the ability to recall, reroute, or track the progress of the work.

Secretaries and transcriptionists see significant benefits as well. Verdatum allows them to see exactly what type of dictation has been forwarded to them, who sent it, its length, and when the work is due back to their attorney. They are instantly notified when new work arrives, and when work is completed it is returned to the attorney immediately through the automated workflow.

As a Microsoft and Interwoven partner Verdatum continues to tightly integrate with Microsoft Office and Interwoven Worksite, though the platform now can integrate with many other law firm applications as well.

“Law firm management and IT are moving decisively toward application and process integration,” said Methfessel. “While every law firm or even practice group within a firm may use an application differently, or emphasize one application over another, firms insist that these applications integrate with each other. Firms recognize that ROI of technology is accelerated when their processes are streamlined by applications that transfer data amongst themselves and allow end-users to perform their tasks without the disruption of having to switch back and forth between non–integrated applications. This is precisely the philosophy Verdatum 2.0. Whether a law firm wants to integrate its dictation into its DMS, case management system, time & billing system, or calendaring and contact system, Verdatum 2.0 can do it quickly and easily. It’s one of the benefits of using software created solely for law firms and legal departments.”
