The iTheater enables anyone with an iPod, PSP, portable DVD, computer or video game to wear a home theater system on their head -- weighing just 3 ounces. It simulates watching a 50-inch TV screen from 8.5 feet away.

(PRWEB) November 30, 2005 -- FirstSTREET, a Top 400 Internet retailer, specializing in "unique, yet practical gadgets" -- announced the launch of the iTheater portable entertainment system. The iTheater is a lightweight, video visor enabling users of Apple's video iPod and other video output devices to upgrade their viewing screen. Even though the LCDs are only an inch from the user's eyes, the optics create the effect of a 50-inch TV screen viewed from 8.5 feet away. It features two full-color, liquid-crystal displays that support 320x240 lines of resolution each. The ear buds conveniently store in the foldable frames. It connects easily to most cable boxes, VCRs, DVD players, laptops and video game systems. What's more, the iTheater can be used with video cell phones or a photo iPod for viewing photos or clips on a bigger screen.

Lighter and more comfortable than other units, the iTheater weighs just 3 ounces, and offers high quality surround stereo audio. The iTheater comes with a portable power source as well as two "AA" batteries that keep this entertainment center going for up to 6-8 viewing hours.

In the coming weeks, the iTheater will also work with Sony's PlayStation portable (PSP). With the recent announcement by Tivo that it will let subscribers transfer recorded television programming to Apple iPod digital music players or PSP devices -- the iTheater provides an alternative to the smaller screens that come with these platforms. This will make the iTheater highly convenient for watching tv shows and other distributed programming on the go.

The iTheater is priced at $499.00. The iPod® Plug for the iTheater is an additional $29.95. Given its pricing and functionality, the iTheater is designed for serious gamers, video enthusiasts and travelers who insist on being connected to portable entertainment.
