The Off Duty Helmet: Because Insurgents Don’t Know About Happy Hour

When drinking on a battlefield, it’s best to use your head…

San Fransisco, CA November 8, 2005 (PRWeb) -- In a war where soldiers have to always be on guard, it isn’t easy for young American men to enjoy a favored pastime- relaxing with an ice cold beer. But one drinking obsessed company is trying to change that.

“It’s bad enough that our soldiers in Iraq have to drink non-alcoholic beer,” notes Ron Lepper, DrinkingStuff’s chief product designer, “add to that the fact they may be shot at while drinking it and you can see there’s a problem waiting to be solved.”

So DrinkingStuff, the online retailer of all things drinking, solved it- by creating the world’s first military beer helmet. They’re made from actual surplus helmets, complete with dual camouflaged and insulated beer holders and hands free drinking tube. While they won’t offer nearly as much protection as modern armored helmets, they’ll keep a soldier’s hands free. Or at least keep his beer cold.

They’re currently retailing for $39.99 at www.DrinkingStuff.com, and the company says they’ll provide samples to active duty troops to help fine tune the helmet’s design. “Get your hands on one today,” says Ron, “then get those hands back on your rifle. We’re at war, for Pete’s sake.”
