MEhera Shaw, the young, Chapel Hill fashion house is pleased to report a 35% increase in sales figures over 2004. They attribute their dramatic increase in sales to becoming known in the community as well as the current desire among women to wear "truly feminine" comfortable clothing made using natural fibers. Mehera Shaw owners are shifting next door in their Carr Mill location and launching a more upmarket, feminine boutique in December 2005. The shift, inspired by the increase in sales, also also represents the creative vision of natural beauty which the label exemplifies.
Carrboro, N.C. (PRWEB) November 28, 2005 -- Local fashion house, Mehera Shaw Designs, reports on year to date sales for 2005 up 35% over 2004. The young, locally owned fashion house, started in 1999, is situated in the Carr Mill mall in Carrboro, NC. Mehera Shaw began as a husband and wife company selling their cotton, handprinted line wholesale in the midwest and northeast. In 2001, they launched their first retail boutique in Asheville, NC, moving to Carrboro in 2002. They are pleased to report their drastic increase in sales and feel it is an encouraging sign that Mehera Shaw is developing a loyal customer base. “We feel our increase in business is a result of becoming known in the community,” says, co-owner, Shari Keller. “It has taken us time to understand the retail climate, to develop our style and to market ourselves effectively to the triangle community. We feel word-of-mouth has the most impact on our sales figures. This coupled with mailings, press coverage, and fashion shows has helped people find out about us.”
“Due to our increased sales, we are now able to focus even more clearly on our Mehera Shaw concept. I put together very feminine, upmarket collections which focus on natural beauty. Our Mehera Shaw concept can now also more fully include our shopping space." Comments, designer and co-owner Shari. "We are moving into a smaller, more intimate space, still in Carr Mill, in hopes that the shopping experience will reflect our sense of femininity as expressed in our clothing line. The increase in business that we have seen in the last year is very encouraging. We are developing a customer base of women who appreciate fine cottons, natural fibers, and a sense of natural beauty through classically inspired styles.”
Mehera Shaw plans for the future include a shopper friendly web site, more truly feminine spring collections, and the addition of co-owner Mark Keller’s ethnically inspired designer jewelry. They will be operating in both their current and their new Carr Mill locations through December.
