Physical Therapy Software Boosts Revenue by Automating Rehab Documentation

Download this press release as an Adobe PDF document.

Physical therapy and rehabilitation practices can boost their revenue, reduce frustration, and minimize liability with physical therapy software provided by SpectraSoft’s DocuPRO physical therapy software. SpectraSoft is a premier developer of physical therapy software and scheduling software for healthcare practices.

(PRWEB) November 29, 2005 -- Physical therapy and rehabilitation practices can boost their revenue nearly 20% by switching from manual documentation to an electronic system, according to a recent study. The study of 40 physical therapy clinics tracked results before and after switching to SpectraSoft’s DocuPRO physical therapy software. SpectraSoft is a leading developer of physical therapy software and scheduling software for healthcare practices.

The study found that after switching to DocuPRO, the average charge per encounter grew by over 40%, while the net collections per encounter rose 19%. The company believes that tracking charges electronically through the physical therapy software was the chief reason for the higher profits.

DocuPRO captures charges that are often omitted on handwritten billing slips
“DocuPRO captures charges that are often omitted on handwritten billing slips,” said Steve Petrie, CEO of SpectraSoft. “For example, a patient may be in for 90 minutes but the therapist will only bill for 45 or 60 minutes of treatment. This physical therapy software captures all legitimate charges directly from the documented interventions, ensuring accurate billing.”

Many clinics also found that their rate of insurance denials dropped with the rehab documentation system. DocuPRO features 150 body-specific templates that use branching logic to allow a therapist to quickly document a case with very little typing. The consistent, thorough format of the documentation, and that it always matched the submitted claim, reduced the denials. Other features of the software include:

  • 40 report templates that draw data from the case into professionally designed summaries for referring physicians and others;
  • A summary screen where a therapist can see the daily schedule, patient information and queue of cases waiting on signed documentation, all at a glance;
  • Integration with leading PT billing solutions.
