New York (PRWEB) November 30, 2005 -- Institutional Investor today announced the finalists in its inaugural America’s Most Shareholder-Friendly Company Awards. Altogether, 254 companies in 62 industry sectors qualified as finalists. Their names are listed at www.iievents.com/shareholder the awards Web site.
The finalists represent the top four corporations in their industry sectors as selected by the nation’s biggest investors and Wall Street’s leading research analysts. The winners in each sector will be published in the February issue of Institutional Investor magazine, and their management teams will be honored at a gala dinner on Thursday, February 16, 2006, at the Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park.
To identify America’s most shareholder-friendly companies, Institutional Investor asked directors of research, chief investment officers, portfolio managers and analysts at hundreds of money management firms, as well as research analysts from the major brokerage firms, to rank companies on the effectiveness of their corporate governance practices and investor relations as part of the companies’ overall efforts to maximize shareholder value. The top four selections in each industry sector became finalists.
