Dick Gregory and Cherishing the Children, Honor Cicely Tyson and Shaquille O'Neal at the Second Annual "Cherishing the Children" Benefit Scholarship and Charity Fundraiser in Hollywood.
(PRWEB) December 1, 2005 -- Dr. Jynona Norwood and Cherishing the Children, a subsidiary of Family Christian Cathedral a 501c 3 foundation, will hold their Second Annual Awards Benefit in Hollywood to benefit children that were victims of Katrina. A celebrity auction will also be held featuring items from Shaquille O'Neal, Melissa Etheridge, Master P, M.C. Lyte and many more.
The event will take place on November 30, 2005
from 6:00pm - 10:00pm at the Wolfgang Puck Rincon Annex - (KODAK THEATER complex) 6801 Hollywood Boulevard (Hollywood & Highland) 5th Floor.
The benefit will honor legendary actress Cicely Tyson and basketball sensation and humanitarian, Shaquille O'Neal (MVP, Miami Heat), K.D. Aubert (actress, Friday After Next, Soul Plane) and Reverend Leonard B. Jackson for their invaluable work with children, poverty and anti-gang violence.
Celebrity Guests will include; Dick Gregory (celebrated comedian and activist), Margaret O'Brien (Oscar winning actress), Randal Malone (MTV's Singled Out), Ernie Hudson (Award winning actor, Ghost Busters), former Mayor Elihu Harris of Oakland, CA. and surprise celebrity guests.
Entertainment will be provided by; Jon B. (R&B sensation), Bobby Kimball (TOTO’s lead singer), Cowboy Soul Band, Trenyce (American Idol finalist),Victoria Moulter (Opera Singer) and New Hope Catholic Choir.
This scholarship and charity fundraiser will benefit the children of Katrina and the students of the Gulf Region and will memorialize children who have been lost to violence. They hope to give these students a good holiday by helping them remain in college and continue to pursue their dreams. Over 50 Katrina families and children will be in attendance with transportation provided by a compassionate car dealership. College representatives will personally receive funds during the event as well as a representative for victims in Baton Rouge, LA.
