The National Alliance Soccer League (NASL) begins its indoor soccer season on Friday, December 9 with the Las Vegas Cosmos travelling to meet the New Mexico Storm at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
(PRWEB) December 4, 2005 -- The upstart Las Vegas Cosmos are looking to get off to a good start Friday December 9th when they meet the New Mexico Storm in a National Alliance Soccer League opening match at the Albuquerque Convention Center. Game time is 7pm. The Cosmos and Storm join the Dallas Tornado, Phoenix Inferno, New York Arrows, Wahington Diplomats, Oakland Stompers, and Los Angeles Aztecs in the league.
"We're very excited to be a part of the NASL," said New Mexico Owner Tami Pacheco. "We were pleased to become involved in a league where we could begin to establish both national and regional rivalries."
The Cosmos are the indoor version of the NPSL Las Vegas Strikers, who are run by General Manager Frederic Apcar. "We think the indoor soccer game is a very exciting brand of soccer," said Apcar, "and we know that Las Vegas is a growing hotbed for the sport."
The Cosmos open their ten game home season at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, January 8th when they host the Salt Lake Olimpique Montreau squad.
TVS Television Network has signed a 20 game TV contract with the NASL. They will be including this programming with their classic soccer TV matches from the original North American Soccer League and the original Major Indoor Soccer League on the TVS Sports.Com web channel that debuts in January 2006. The NASL is the only indoor soccer league with a national TV contract.
