Poemsource.com recently expanded its online greeting card poem offerings to include new, original Christmas, New Year’s and Valentine poems for cards, e-cards, and other applications.

(PRWEB) December 6, 2005 -- Poemsource.com recently expanded its online greeting card poem offerings to include new, original holiday poems for Christmas, New Year’s and Valentine’s Day. According to poemsource.com, old fashioned rhyming poems -- which are increasingly difficult to find in card stores -- are making a strong comeback online this year for use on paper cards and e-cards. With tens to hundreds of thousands of people each month searching for such poems on the Internet, poemsource.com is seeing the expected seasonal interest in their Christmas poems and New Year’s poems, and is also noticing interest in Valentine poems.

Greeting card poet Joanna Fuchs says the poems are designed to be sentimental and to touch the heart. “I try to help people say in a poem what they find difficult to say out loud,” she says. “I started with the popular categories currently at the site, but I have many more greeting card poem categories in mind, such as ‘thank you,’ and ‘sympathy’ poems.”

“Not many people are writing rhyming verse,” she adds. “People love it, but it’s out of favor with most poets, and I think it’s harder to write than free verse. Most of the poems at poemsource.com have a rhyme scheme, but I also added several free verse poems for those who prefer a contemporary format.”

Fuchs says she’s been writing greeting card poems for decades. “When I was about eight years old, I started writing little jingles for the homemade cards I gave to my relatives,” she says, “and I’ve been doing it ever since. I put up the site about a year ago, and I just keep adding poems to it.”

In addition to Christmas poems, New Year’s poems and Valentine poems, there are anniversary, birthday, baby, friendship, graduation, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, teacher, and wedding poems, love poems, Christian poems and even a Fourth of July poem.

“I wrote the Fourth of July poem, ‘Free In The USA,’ for the U.S. bicentennial in 1976, and it’s one of my favorites, so I put it on the site in the ‘More Poems’ section,” Fuchs says. “Eventually I’ll have a whole category for patriotic and military poems for the related holidays, like Veteran’s Day, Memorial Day and Flag Day.”
