New Internet show features ways divorced parents can create holiday harmony.

Portland, Ore. (PRWEB) December 6, 2005 -- Stepfamily Talk Radio -- a new internet radio show that features interviews with divorced parents plus commentary from professionals about the parents’ often difficult predicaments -- this month provides tips for helping divorced parents create holiday harmony for their children.

For the holiday show, co-hosts Lisa Cohn and Jann Blackstone-Ford interview Mary Jane Gore, a mom who’s separated from her husband, but celebrates Christmas with him and the kids. What’s more, Gore and her “ex” live in the same house on different floors—for the sake of their kids. Former family law attorney and author Brette Sember provides ideas for creating a sense of togetherness and family over the holidays.

In other featured interviews, Cohn and Blackstone-Ford interview Rita Hardin, a divorced mom arrested for attending her son’s ballgame when it was her ex-husband’s weekend with the kids. Attorney Stacy D. Phillips, author of “Divorce: It’s All About Control” explains how parents can avoid such divorce wars. These recent shows are sponsored by Familyresource.com, which provides articles and other online resources for families.

“So many divorced and remarried parents grapple with difficult situations,” says Cohn. “They include uncooperative ex-spouses, custody battles and strained relations with their ex-spouses’ new mates. We want them to know they’re not alone, and to give them the opportunity to hear the voices of real people who are also struggling or who have learned how to address such challenging situations.”

“Our commentary from experts like Sember and Phillips will be incredibly valuable to divorced parents who are trying to be smart about how to raise their children,” adds Blackstone-Ford.

A number of organizations have formed partnerships with Blackstone-Ford and Cohn to provide Stepfamily Talk Radio content. These include the Stepfamily Association of America, Philly Women, Familyresource.com, newsforparents.org, Bonus Families®, Inc., and the Stepfamily Association of Australia.

The show’s director of programming is internet radio specialist Martin Wales. Its clinical advisor is William Merkel, a Ph.D. clinical psychologist. Expert guests include Margorie Engel, president and CEO of the Stepfamily Association of America.

Stepfamily Talk Radio will soon begin offering resources for divorced and remarried parents, including teleseminars and telephone support groups for stepparents.

Jann Blackstone-Ford, M.A. is a divorce and stepfamily mediator and founder of Bonus Families®, www.bonusfamilies.com, a 501 c3 non-profit organization that offers support and advice to divorced or separated parents and their new families. She has appeared on Good Morning America, The Today Show, The Early Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show and writes a newspaper column, also called Ex-Etiquette, syndicated by Knight Ridder/Tribune.

Lisa Cohn is co-author of "One Family, Two Family, New Family: Stories and Advice for Stepfamilies."
