What’s Funny in Modesto, California?

A Central Valley California author and speaker trys her hand at stand up comedy.

Modesto, CA (PRWEB) December 9, 2005 -- Elodia Tate is a Central Valley California author, and professional speaker, who also health coaches people wanting to add a natural approach, to managing their health. However, she has recently decided to spend more time away from her computer sitting down and do something standing up, stand up comedy that is.

In 2001 Elodia Tate had her first taste of performing comedy for an audience. She performed a skit on colon cleansing, "The Colon Patrol", and performed in character, as "General Colon Bowel". She put her audience through colon cleansing boot camp and it was a hit, prompting her to be invited to perform over and over again.

Since then Elodia has focused on writing, speaking and continues to health coach but it is all done with a sense of humor.

In Januray 2004 Elodia went on the road marketing her book, "Open My Eyes, Open My Soul", that she co-created with Yolanda King, daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elodia says, "While on the road marketing, I share my family stories and once again I find I enjoy making people laugh, and being on stage.” Since then she has written stand up material on having a multicultural family, parenting, divorce, dating, online dating, having a hysterectomy and the list goes on.

She is now adding stand up comedy to her list of services. Elodia has said "I enjoy everything I do from writing, speaking and health coaching, but making people laugh brings me a special kind of joy. I would love to do shows for non-profit organizations raising money for important causes.”

Her books co-creator, Yolanda King, has been especially supportive of her performing stand up as a career. Prompted by her friend, she recently auditioned in San Francisco, at the Punch Line comedy club, for a chance to earn the title "Funniest Mom in America", sponsored by the Nick@Nite station. "Keep your fingers crossed for me. I won't hear back until January 2006 and I really want to do well.” she says.

Elodia recently performed at the "Yo'Pollo", a 50th birthday celebration for Yolanda King, in Los Angeles. "It was so much fun, as well as an honor, to be on stage with all the other wonderful talent that night." She was spotted by entertainment agent, Phyllis Larrymore-Kelly, and will be working with Phyllis to bring her performing skills to television and film.

Keep watching. For there is surely more funny to come!
