Award-winning photographer Jim Crotty provided all the photographic images for the 2006 Campus Calendar of the University of Dayton.
(PRWEB) December 14, 2005 -- Photographs by Dayton-area photographer Jim Crotty, who owns and manages Picture Ohio, LLC, are featured in the newly released 2006 Campus Calendar for the University of Dayton. The full-color calendar, currently being distributed through the University of Dayton’s Office of Development, includes seasonal images that were captured by Crotty over the course of ten months, beginning in September 2004 and ending with the last photo shoot in June 2005.
Crotty worked directly with the staff of the University of Dayton Publications Department in coordinating the schedule for the calendar photo shoot and periodically reviewing images during the 2004-05 academic year. "I worked with Jim on this yearlong project and was delighted with the fresh approach he took, the creative results he produced and the excellent working relationship he built with our publications team. His landscape images will add value to our stock photography collection for years to come,” stated Deborah McCarty-Smith, Director of Publications for the University of Dayton.
“The Publications and Development staff at U.D. wanted to visually convey the unique light and characteristics of each of the four seasons and the effect on the campus landscape,” said Crotty. “Since this calendar is largely distributed to alumni of the University of Dayton, I wanted to capture images that would elicit memories and feelings associated with the seasons of the year. For me this was the perfect assignment. Understanding and appreciating light is an important part of my work. To be able to apply this appreciation in capturing images of such a scenic and vibrant campus as that of the University of Dayton was a real pleasure.”
The University of Dayton is part of a growing list of clients for Crotty’s commercial photography business, Picture Ohio, LLC. Crotty started the firm by selling prints of his nature and landscape images from his Kettering home in April 2003. Since then he has relocated the business to a 1,100 square foot studio and gallery, located in Centerville on Far Hills Ave. He has also expanded his services to include all types of commercial and assignment photography as well as custom digital image editing and printing. Crotty also sells licensing rights for use of his landscape, nature and cityscape photographs in publications and print advertisements.
Crotty grew-up in Kettering where he now resides with his wife and two daughters. He’s a graduate of Alter High School and the University of Dayton. He also earned a Master of Professional Communication from Westminster College of Salt Lake City and completed the Professional Photography Program at Rocky Mountain School of Photography in Missoula, Montana.
