Saddler's Creek Wines Nominated in the Top 5 Wineries of Australia

A Small Minnow in a Big Wine Pond does exceptionally well.

(PRWEB) December 15, 2005 -- Saddler’s Creek, a quality boutique winery in the Hunter Valley, has been nominated as one of the top five wineries of Australia by the very well respected Winestate Magazine. This selection was by way of a cumulative scoring of all wines submitted by all wine companies throughout Australia during the year.

This selection is no mean feat, as the other four wineries in the top five are very large by comparison. Those wineries nominated alongside Saddler’s Creek were Tyrrells Wines, Yalumba Wines, Houghtons Wines and De Bortoli Wines. All these other wine companies have far greater resources as well as well as the ability to submit far larger quantities of wine for assessment.

Saddler’s Creek is a winery going places. In a climate where wineries all over the world are trying to make larger and larger volumes to more effectively amortize their costs, Saddler’s is quite a contrarian minnow in what is now a very large and competitive “wine pond”.

Saddler’s has in fact, in the last two years, consolidated it’s growth with one goal in mind…… to markedly improve the quality of each and every bottle of wine it produces and not to blindly increase production.

Saddler’s Creek makes no less than 16 different wines with retail price points ranging from A$12- A$60 a bottle. All the wines of Saddler’s have a certain distinctiveness, with a degree of flavour and ripeness that make them different with a capital “D “

Take the effort to seek out some of Saddler’s wines such as their 5 Star [in 2005 Winestate editions] 2001 Langhorne Reserve Cabernet, the 2005 Classic Hunter Semillon or their 2002 Equus Collection Shiraz and you will be delighted with what you find.

John Johnstone, the proprietor and Chief Winemaker believes that Saddler’s future is only possible with quality as the main agenda and is determined to succeed at whatever cost such quality demands. “We are only interested in making the best wine we can and not the most wine we can” says John adding “we are only seeking agents as representatives who understand this”.

This is a unique and refreshing outlook in what is becoming a more and more “beverage approach” by the new world wine industry.

As consumers become more and more fastidious and look for something different, companies like Saddler’s have a bright future.
