boats.com and the NMMA Announce Judging Panel for the 2006 North American Marine Industry Web Awards

The nominations are in for the 2006 North American Marine Industry Web Awards and boats.com and the National Marine Manufacturers Association are pleased to announce the judging panel for this second annual event.

Seattle, WA (PR WEB) December 19, 2005 -- The nominations are in for the 2006 North American Marine Industry Web Awards and boats.com and the National Marine Manufacturers Association are pleased to announce the judging panel for this second annual event. The Awards are designed to recognize companies that lead the North American marine industry’s drive towards higher standards of excellence in website design and content.

The judges are:

Michelle Stewart – Lead Designer – Exclaim, LLC, Seattle - Award winning designer Michelle Stewart has been in the design and advertising industry for ten years. Her areas of experience include print, multi-media, branding, websites and television. Currently she works for the Seattle-based design agency, EXCLAIM, where she is involved in developing creative strategies for such clients as the American Heart Association, Seattle Financial Group and UW Medicine.

Sam Thanawalla – Senior Analyst, Digital Marketing Solutions – JD Power and Associates, Westlake Village, CA - Sam Thanawalla is responsible for providing design and analytical interpretation of the firm’s Manufacturer Website Evaluation Study and the New AutoShopper.com Study, and formulates and presents actionable recommendations to meet client-specific needs. He is also a regular contributor to the firm’s Online Automotive Review. He has worked on a wide range of proprietary and syndicated automotive studies and serves as a consultant with clients and their agencies in the development and design of company Web sites.

David Newsom – Principal/Creative Director – Sandcastle Interactive, Seattle – Newsom is a specialist in all aspects of multimedia. He has produced television commercials for companies such as McDonald's, Weyerhaeuser, General Electric, Ford Motor Company, Pepsi-Cola and Bank of America. As VP of Production for Miramar Recordings, Newsom participated in many successful, platinum-selling audio and video projects. Currently as Creative Director of Sandcastle Interactive, he works with a wide range of entrepreneurial companies establishing their online marketing presence. Newsom strives to develop unique, interesting and attention-getting programs while maintaining a perspective of the communication objectives and target audience expectations.

James Nolan – Group General Manager – boats.com & YachtWorld.com, Seattle – Nolan has been involved with the marine industry at the senior management level for many years. He was Associate Publisher of Boating Industry magazine and helped develop its eNewsletter and Internet advertising campaign. He recently wrote a number of articles for I.B.I. magazine about e-commerce as it pertains to the leisure marine industry.

Fernando Regueiro – Director of Internet Services – National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), Chicago – Regueiro has spent the last five years leading the Internet Services Department for the NMMA. He leads a team of programmers and designers who are in charge of the development and maintenance of over 40 websites under the NMMA umbrella. These websites comprise a total of 100 domain names including nmma.org, discoverboating.com and growboating.org.

Five award categories have been created to honor different segments of the North American marine industry and the companies in those segments whose websites demonstrate creativity in design, ease of navigation and up-to-date, relevant content. The Awards have been organized to recognize the following categories:

Best Marine Equipment Site
For equipment manufacturers

Best Dealer/Broker Site
For power or sailboat dealers and brokers

Best Marine Site – Overall

Outstanding Contribution to the Online Marine Industry
This category is open to any individual who has made a significant contribution to the development of the Internet within the industry.

Winning companies will hold one of the prestigious titles for a year and will also receive a trophy exclusively designed by world renowned yacht designer, Tony Castro to be presented at a special awards ceremony during the 2006 Miami International Boat Show, being held February 16-20 at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
