Ofrenda, Inc. announces the release of the public service announcement entitled Slap in the Face" directed by Oscar Lobo for Intervida Foundation, designed to sponsor children in need for one dollar a day.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 9, 2005 -- Ofrenda, Inc. announces the release of the public service announcement entitled Slap in the Face" directed by Oscar Lobo for Intervida Foundation. Designed to sponsor children in need for one dollar a day, the PSA campaign includes a 60 second television spot, with 30 and 15 second versions supported by a radio campaign. The spots are scheduled to begin airing February 15th on cable networks including Fox News Channel, CNN, HGTV, Inspiration Network, TBS, USA Network, along with local stations in Phoenix, Saint Louis, Minneapolis, and St. Paul.
The campaign is the first national PSA campaign for Intervida Foundation USA, www.intervidausa.org, a non-profit independent organization that promotes the integral development of the worlds poorest countries with the best interest of children in mind. Intervida was established several years ago in India, our medical team was in Cuddalore the day after the disaster and then Chennai and Muttam, delivering aid and supplies to victims of the tsunami," reported Ezequiel Cabado Executive Director Intervida Foundation USA.
Director Oscar Lobo features in each spot a woman with a blank expression as she speaks to the camera, Every five seconds a child dies of hunger." A hand suddenly comes into frame and slaps her in the face, without a change in her expression. The woman continues with, Everyday I see images of children suffering in the world. Everyday someone asks me for help but its become so common that Ive grown immune. If hitting me with these facts doesnt work, what else can one do to get help?" This is followed by images of children appearing in a flash. These moving images are black and white portraits of children by internationally renowned photographer Sebastião Salgado from his book The Children" published by Aperture. A male voice then asks viewers to sponsor a child for a dollar a day, or pretend you never saw this message.
Oscar Lobos vivacity for creating cinematic images with impact, naturally led him to evolve from a cinematographer into a director with captivating style. In 2003, Lobo relocated from Venezuela to Los Angeles to join forces with the creative team at Ofrenda as an emerging new talent in the commercial directing arena. Lobo brings his unique artistic vision and his cinematography experience to this project mastering the challenge of fusing art and advertising. I think you can always find ways to present an effective message capable of reaching deep emotions," commented Lobo. He is recognized with awards from the London International Advertising Awards as well as the New York Film Festival Awards.
The agency and creative team behind the campaign is Young and Rubicam, Miami with creative director Antonio Costa-Neto, art director Silvana Widuczynski and business director Borja de La Plaza. Creative director Costa-Neto brings a unique perspective and understanding of what is necessary to create a lasting impact and deliver a message among the barrage of ads viewers are inundated with on a daily basis. It was a great experience working with director Oscar Lobo and Ofrenda, Inc.; they are dedicated to delivering the highest quality production," reported Costa-Neto. The agency scripts are inspiring concepts, brought to life with a surreal quality by director/cameraman Oscar Lobos vision, shot with the Sony HDW-F900 high definition video camera. I want to thank Intervida Foundation for the opportunity to present my vision to contribute towards a better and more harmonious world to live in," said Lobo.
Donna Casey-Aira executive producer for Ofrenda, Inc., Los Angeles, put together an ensemble of industry professionals, including director/cameraman Oscar Lobo, as well as companies that donated their talents and services on a pro-bono and discount basis. Among those who contributed to the production were Blanca Valdez Casting, Hollywood, Ca.; Contact Press Images, N.Y., N.Y.; DSG Production Services, Woodland Hills, Ca.; Ann Cutting Photography, Pasadena, Ca.; Post Solutions, Toluca Lake, Ca.; 48 Windows Music & Mix with Eric Garcia sound mixer, Santa Monica, Ca.; Directors Choice Video, Valley Village, Ca.; Roll Sound, Chatsworth, Ca. and everyone on the production crew.
This effort to aid children in need inspired the best in everyone. The production support and generosity was amazing. The project was shot prior to the tsunami disaster, now the need for support has reached epic proportions. Our hope is for the PSA campaign to enable Intervida Foundation to reach out to more children than they dreamed possible," commented Casey-Aira.
