In response to the devastation resulting from the tsunami in Southeast Asia Portland Trail Blazers center Theo Ratliff (42) announced today the donation of $100,000 to the UNICEF relief fund benefiting the victims of the tsunami.
Portland, OR (PRWEB) February 12, 2005 -- "My family's thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected by the devastation caused by the earthquake and tsunami that hit many parts of Asia and east Africa," said Ratliff.
"This disaster and resultant loss of life emotionally impacted our family," added his wife, Kristina Ratliff. The relief efforts are, in our opinion, a global responsibility and we are grateful that we are able to contribute and make a difference as the residents of the impacted areas rebuild their lives," she said.
On January 19th, Trail Blazers fans, team members and coaching staff, donated $90,000 to tsunami relief efforts for Portland-based Mercy Corps.
