Active Ink Software Launches Two New .NET Applications for the Windows XP Tablet PC Platform

New tools will provide a Rapid Application Development platform for ink enabling existing paper and PC documents as a front-end to existing applications.

Laguna Niguel, CA (PRWEB) February 28, 2005 -- Active Ink Software, Inc., a Microsoft Premier PC Partner announced the general availability of two new Microsoft .NET development tools for rapid application development: The Form Designer and the Form Control.

The Form Designer is a form-building application that enables developers, independent software vendors, system integrators and end users to rapidly build digital forms for the PC and the Tablet PC platforms. Existing paper and PC documents can be ink enabled for use as a front-end user interface to an existing application.

The Form Control is a .NET control that allows software developers to invoke Active Inks forms from within their own application and to create a user interface that will accept digital ink. This eliminates the paper document by creating the digital equivalent and using it as the front-end to the developers custom application.

Tablet PC owners have been looking for ways to eliminate paper documents by creating the digital equivalent on their Tablet PCs," says Steve Hoffman, Vice President of Active Ink Software. Active Inks Form Designer and Form Control make this possible."

The Form Designer incorporates the following features for building forms:
·Toolbox – Create shapes, lines, images, text and data entry fields.
·Form Converter – Convert scanned images and PC documents into a format that accepts ink.
·Handwriting Recognition – Support for the handwriting recognition engine included with Microsofts Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 Operating System.
·Annotation Support – Mark up documents in multi-colored ink.
·Attachment Support – Embed digital photos and scanned images into existing forms.
·Workflow Support – Manage the document workflow process by creating folders, binders and queues.
·Database Integration – Link fields and database tables together. Export to any ODBC compliant database.
·XML Formatting – Store ink and data in a format that can be used by other applications.
·Audit Trails – Provide for the full audit trail of all changes made to the form.
·Authentication – Assign User Ids and passwords to restrict access to certain documents.
·Save Formats – Save forms in several text and image formats including XML, TIFF, JPEG and Bitmap.

The Form Control supports the following standard form filling features:
·Pen/Keyboard Input
·Color Ink Annotation
·Highlighting
·Erasing
·Ink-to-Text Conversion
·Ink Retention
·Scrolling
·Page Sizing
·Pre-Population of Data
