Studentfilmmakers.com announces the Cinematography's Digital Revolution Workshop East with Roy H. Wagner, ASC, in New York, NY on Saturday, March 26, 2005 will be held at the New York City Hotel Pennsylvania.

(PRWEB) February 28, 2005 -- Studentfilmmakers.com announces the Cinematography's Digital Revolution Workshop East with Roy H. Wagner, ASC, in New York, NY on Saturday, March 26, 2005 will be held at the New York City Hotel Pennsylvania 401 Seventh Avenue (at 33rd Street) New York, N.Y. 10001. This all day seminar will feature an intensive workshop led by Mr. Wagner, currently the Director of Photography for the New Hit Fox TV series "House" and a 40-year veteran, two-time Emmy-winning cinematographer, named by Kodak as one of the "Top 100 Directors of Photography."

Roy Wagner, ASC is a well-known director of photography for numerous film and television productions including Nick of Time, Nightmare on Elm Street III, Beauty and the Beast, Quantum Leap, Pasadena, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Wagner was Emmy-nominated two additional times for Robert Altman's GUN and the movie of the week, Disaster at Silo 7. He was also nominated for an ASC Award for Beauty and the Beast.

Cinematography's Digital Revolution Workshop East provides a rare opportunity to study with a great voice in contemporary digital cinematography. Mr. Wagner will talk, answer questions and evaluate his and others work. His 7-part talk will begin with the first creative spark of an idea, and continue through post-production. It opens with the astute observation that cinematography has a musical language all it's own; to collaborating with all the different (often difficult) personalities in a production; to preparation: balancing cost, time and other constraints. He discusses staying true to directors ideals, and maintaining your own; realities of productions daily grind; and the latest digital gear. Realizing that "your work is not done until you are sitting in the dark with the audience," he ends with advice on keeping your vision off the cutting room floor.

The workshop attendees will learn different aesthetic decisions a DP must make, and how they are affected by film vs. digital media production. The recent trend of digital film mastering – and how it has made the cinematographer a vital participant well into postproduction. Find out the answers to these questions: Does digital high definition really reduce cost? Is image quality ever the same as on film? What are all the advantages to digital? How do you manage the often-difficult issue of quality of output? Participation will be encouraged, and there will be a Q and A period.

Spaces for Cinematography's Digital Revolution Workshop are limited. Tickets – which include lunch and materials – cost $175. To register and workshop program information please go to http://www.StudentFilmmakers.com/workshops or by contacting Mr. Kim Welch at (212) 255-5454 or (888) 222-0652. This workshop is sponsored by Adobe, Bogen Imaging, the American Cinematographer magazine, Plus8Digital, ZGC, Cooke, and P+S Technik.
