Film Production Company and Academy Award Nominated Animation House Partner to Develop Family Oriented Multi-Media Franchise

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 11, 2005 -- Vin Diesels film production company One Race Films and animation house Blur Studio have partnered to build a multi-media franchise around Blurs RockFish, the multiple award -winning animated short.

The project is envisioned as a feature length, family friendly film based on the character Sirus Kirk from RockFish that was created by writer/director Tim Miller. RockFish is a comic book-influenced, high adventure tale set on a barren planet in a distant corner of the galaxy. Sirus Kirk is a no-nonsense working man tasked with rounding up creatures that swim" through rocks far below the planets surface and plague the miners who live and work there. The story starts out as just another day on the job for Kirk but quickly turns into a titanic struggle with the catch of his life.

Both in scope and artistic ambition, RockFish is one of Blur Studios most significant undertakings to date. The short has been screened at a number of prestigious festivals, including Edinburgh Film Festival, Palm Springs International Film Festival and Manhattan Short Film Fest, Cinema Paradise (Winner, Best Animation") and Malibu Film Festival (Winner, Best Animation"), and has also won Annie and Imagina Awards for Best Animated Short, among others. Presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen, the film is a sweeping story of spirited action with sharply drawn characters and richly-detailed locales. In roughly nine minutes, Miller spins a plot loaded with danger, heroism and warm character moments. RockFish also features a beautiful original orchestral score and a vivid sound design track.

One Race has had the opportunity to work with wonderful filmmakers on live action features. With Blur as our partner, we believe we will create imaginative and well loved animated films to reach an even wider audience," said George Zakk, Producer for One Race Films.

With the creative energy that Vin Diesel brings to this project, RockFish has the potential to be a ground-breaking animated feature. This collaboration with One Race is incredibly exciting and together we can create a completely new type of adventure film. We think Rockfish will establish a new genre in the world of all-CG films," said Tim Miller, Blur Studio Company Creative Director, and Writer and Director of RockFish. Blurs experience in creating exciting films with high-quality CG animation and compelling storytelling blends perfectly with the creative goals of One Race. We share a passionate commitment to creating new worlds filled with interesting characters and challenges, and RockFish fits that bill perfectly," he added.
