ElcomSoft Co. Ltd. has released Advanced Registry Tracer 2.0, a powerful utility that protects your Windows system by analyzing changes made to your registry, making snapshots of it, storing these images in a database, and making it easy to restore your registry when you encounter problems. Unlike registry monitoring programs that simply monitor access to the registry, Advanced Registry Tracer lets you track and undo each and every change to the registry, without affecting your system performance.

(PRWEB) March 13, 2005 -- ElcomSoft Co. Ltd. has released Advanced Registry Tracer 2.0, a powerful utility that protects your Windows system by analyzing changes made to your registry, making snapshots of it, storing these images in a database, and making it easy to restore your registry when you encounter problems. Unlike registry monitoring programs that simply monitor access to the registry, Advanced Registry Tracer lets you track and undo each and every change to the registry, without affecting your system performance.

Registry problems are caused by Trojan and virus attacks, by software and hardware installs that are unsuccessful, by software uninstalls that deliberately leave information behind in the registry, and by random hard drive problems. Since the registry is the heart of your Windows operating system, a corrupted registry can cause systems to run slowly and unreliably, and sometimes, to not run at all.

Advanced Registry Tracer gives you the tools to ensure that your registry is sound and secure, without being or hiring a system technician. It's easy to browse the program's registry snapshots, and get a list of the keys and data which are new, deleted, or changed. You can compare the entire registry, or any of its keys. You can exclude keys from the comparison results.

You can change your registry directly from the program, or you can create undo/redo files to roll back changes. These standard .REG files (in either RegEdit 4 or 5 formats) can be applied to your current registry to correct problems that are threatening your system. Advanced Registry Tracer lets you safely experiment with registry tweaks, and create your own tweak database. You can even scan the registry of a remote computer.

Advanced Registry Tracer offers fast searches of keys, values, or data, with advanced options that let you search on a key's date or value datatype. You can set bookmarks for frequent searches. The program can open any registry key in RegEdit. There is an optional command-line interface for automated registry scanning and comparison. You can even add comments to each copy of the registry scanned.

New features in version 2.0 include the ability to define scanning and comparison filters, the object-tweaking feature that lets you safely experiment with registry values, a new database format that dramatically reduces the size of the historical registry database, the ability to compare keys in command-line mode, enormous speed increases in exporting registry files, and an improved interface.

Whether you're a business person who wants to quickly remove corrupt registry entries created by Trojan attacks, a parent who needs to undo the problems caused by the Internet downloads made by your children, or a home user who wants the security of knowing that registry problems can be quickly and safely backed out of your computer, Advanced Registry Tracer has the tools that you need.

Advanced Registry Tracer 2.0 runs under Windows 95/98/Me/NT4/2000/XP, costs $40(US) for a single-user license, and may be purchased securely online at http://www.elcomsoft.com/art.html. You can download a free trial version from the same web site.
