Lake Forest, CA (PRWEB) March 14, 2005 -- Preeminent workplace violence expert, W. Barry Nixon, SPHR, Executive Director, National Institute for the Prevention of Workplace Violence, Inc. will present a workshop concerning The Emerging Practice of International Background Screening at the ASIS International European Security Conference: Security Solutions for the Future", Tuesday, April 19th at 11:30 a.m. at the Radisson SAS Scandinavia Hotel, Copenhagen, Denmark.

The session will be presented in cooperation with Straightline International President, Mr. Steve Brownstein; an expert on international background screening issues, and will focus on the growing need for firms to conduct International background screening, the types of checks to use and the special challenges involved.

With the growing threat of terrorism across the globe, the demand for screening new applicants has exploded. However, there is a high level of complexity involved in doing searches abroad and it behooves employers to be very diligent in investing in educating their own experts or hiring experts to assist them. As growth continues in this sector, employers would be wise to ensure they do their homework," commented Nixon.

Media will be interested in attending to gain an insight into this emerging trend including the special challenges, when a company should consider an international search, country differences (laws, customs, procedures, court and criminal systems, etc.), key areas of challenge, legal definitions and regulations, terrorist search sources, factors impacting cost and the various resources available to help in an international search.

Mr. Nixon is certified in Security, Anger Management and Trauma Response. He is a recognized expert and regularly speaks at industry conferences such as ASIS International, Employment Management Association, SHRM, etc. He has authored many published articles and is regularly interviewed by radio and TV news shows as a workplace violence expert, both domestic and international.

Mr. Nixon is also creator of the award winning web site www.workplaceviolence911.com, the Ultimate Workplace Violence Prevention Policy Maker Software and www.PreemploymentDirectory.com, the most comprehensive source of background screening firms available on the Internet.
