This blog covers developments in environmental law from a skeptical lawyer's perspective.
(PRWEB) March 15, 2005 -- A new "Blog" (Environmental Legal Blogs) now covers recent developments in US and California environmental law from the perspective of an attorney practicing in the environmental field for almost a quarter-century.
Why is Environmental Legal Blogs unusual? Unlike the majority of environmental publications and Blogs, Environmental Legal Blogs refuses uncritically to accept the common assumption that the more regulation, the better. The Blog tries fairly to summarize emerging issues but at the same time to stress the scientific uncertainties and inequities often accompanying new, "feel good" laws and regulations. The Blog from time to time also invites experts on a given topic to submit featured Posts that share such experts' perspective with the reader.
To date, Environmental Legal Blogs has mainly focused on the furor over perchlorate contamination (the chemical has been found in mother's milk) and the infirmities of proposed legislative and regulatory approaches to remedying the contamination. The Blog also has just started to focus on the legal battle over exactly what constitutes a "wetland" subject to regulation by the federal government under the Clean Water Act.
Over time, the Blog will discuss many other areas of environmentally-related Court decisions, legislation and regulation. The reader can comment on all of this discussion, making the effort really a conversation.
Posts on Environmental Law Blogs will not be done according to any set schedule but rather as developments warrant. So the reader should check back often.
