New Second Home Index Reveals Top Real Estate Markets

EscapeHomes.com begins tracking market trends of vacation, investment, and retirement home buying. Based on over 200,000 searches, The Second Home Market Index charts the nations ten most popular second home destinations.

1 - Myrtle Beach, SC
2 - South Padre Island, TX
3 - Naples, FL
4 - Holden Beach, NC
5 - Ocean City, NJ
6 - Las Vegas, NV
7 - San Diego, CA
8 - Park City, UT
9 - Orlando, FL
10 - Santa Fe, NM

Myrtle Beach moves up from number four in January to take the number one spot from Holden Beach, South Carolina, which falls to number four on the list. Investors comprised a whopping 62% of the Myrtle Beach home seekers, while 18% are looking for a vacation home, 15% are searching for a retirement property, and 5% are planning to relocate.

If people are realistic about what they want and what they can spend, they can find their dream home here in Myrtle Beach. The area offers a wide variety of activities and there is truly something to be found in every price range," explains Lorrie O'Brien of Prudential Burroughs & Chapin in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.    

New cities moving in to the Top 10 List this month include Ocean City, New Jersey; San Diego, California; and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
