Midwestern Lifestyle Includes Tropical Vacations: Sandals Not Just a Resort to Savvy Travelers

From Chicago to St. Louis, Midwesterners are among the millions of Americans who are willing to spend hard-earned cash to have the perfect vacation. However, most vacationers are also concerned about their feet looking attractive at the beach, whether in sandals, open-toed shoes or barefoot.

cd(PRWEB) March 22, 2005 -- The March 15, 2005, issue of the New York Times reported that, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce, "Travel spending continues to rebound." Last year, Americans spent about 385 billion on vacation travel. From Chicago to St. Louis, Midwesterners are among the millions of Americans who are willing to spend hard-earned cash to have the perfect vacation.

After a long, cold winter, many Midwesterners long for sandy beaches and warm, tropical waters. Luxurious Sandals Resorts are a favorite choice, offering beachfront rooms, oceanview suites and amenities such as gourmet restaurants, golf, scuba diving and award-winning spas in its all-inclusive packages.

Karen Kass, a travel professional with Starship Travel in Arlington Heights, Illinois, says the Caribbean and Mexico are the two most popular destinations for Chicagoans. Starship Travel is a multiple "Best of the Best" award winner for Sandals Resorts. She says, "When clients ask me what they should take to a Sandals resort, I always tell them be sure to take several pairs of shoes, especially some comfortable sandals."

In addition to comfort, most vacationers are also concerned about their feet looking attractive at the beach, whether in sandals, open-toed shoes or barefoot. Dr. Christopher Moore, a Carbondale, Illinois, podiatrist with the Southern Illinois Foot and Ankle Clinic, says, "All of my patients, particularly women, are concerned about how their feet look. In winter, I'm often asked 'What can you do to make my toes look better by summer?'"

Along with other podiatrists around the country, Dr. Moore recommends NonyX® Nail Gel from Xenna Corporation for yellow, discolored toenails. NonyX Gel is a natural exfoliant of the dark, yellow or thick granular material called keratin debris, which can build up under nails over time, making them unattractive. Patented NonyX Gel softens, breaks down and then clears out unattractive keratin debris using natural ethanoic acid.

Dr. Moore says, "My patients have been very happy with NonyX Gel and they tell me 'This is the best my feet have looked in years.' I like a more natural product and many of my patients feel the same way."

A recent clinical study confirmed NonyX Nail Gel significantly improves toenail color and clarity by exfoliating yellowing keratin debris from under the nail. To view a recent TV news release on NonyX Gel, go to http://easylink.playstream.com/networknewssource/nonyx/nonyx.wvx

Rough, dry feet and cracked heels are also a concern for those wanting to wear stylish open-toed pumps, slingbacks, flip-flops and sandals. Shoe styles that expose skin to sun and sand contribute to the problem of dry, flaking, or cracked heels. For soft, supple heels and feet Dr. Moore and other podiatrists recommend the natural enzymes found in new enzyme-based CalleX® Dry Heel Ointment.

One Chicago resident said, "When you travel as much as I do, the way your feet look is a year-round concern. One of the women in my office is in Mexico right now, and a few weeks before she left she was complaining about the poor condition of her heels."

Newly patented CalleX has been shown in consumer studies to significantly reduce thickened skin areas, dry, flaking skin and cracking on soles and heels within 15 to 30 days. The natural enzymes in diabetic-friendly, acid-free CalleX moisturizes dry, rough or flaky skin, and exfoliates and thins thickened areas, while leaving normal skin unaffected.

Because of the individual nature of foot problems, Dr. Moore recommends checking with your podiatrist regarding questions about any foot problem, including concerns related to appearance.

NonyX Nail Gel can be purchased in the footcare section of Walgreens, Rite Aid, Longs, Drug Emporium and most Medicine Shoppe drugstores. It is also available from podiatric physicians, independent pharmacies and online at www.drugstore.com and www.xenna.com. CalleX Dry Heel Ointment is now available in the footcare section at Longs Drugs, from podiatric physicians and online at www.drugstore.com and www.xenna.com.

Xenna Corporation is a privately-held company which develops and distributes natural personal care products for skin, hair and nails.
