Pleasanton, CA (PRWEB) March 23, 2005 -- Julie Kenney, founder of the San Francisco based luxury gift bag company, Jewels and Pinstripes, happily announced the sale of the Us Weekly Help Them Heal Gift Bag" her company produced to benefit the survivors of last Decembers tragic tsunami. We are thrilled to announce the luxury filled autographed gift bag sold for $11,211 dollars," said Kenney. The money from the auction has been donated to Save the Children and designated to aid the people of Southern Asia."
Kenney first announced her companys intention to create the bag in mid-January. When Us Weekly Magazine heard of Jewels and Pinstripes good works, they contacted Kenney, and an alliance was created. Us Weekly Magazine invited stars to donate personal memorabilia for the celebrity tsunami auction and the celebrity signed gift bag created by Jewels and Pinstripes was one of the 40 items apart of this very important auction to raise funds. The Maria Lyons garment bag was stuffed with over 65 unbelievable goodies including a five day stay at Marquis Los Cabos resort, a $950 glass-beaded clutch by Romero Britto and so much more. The bag was signed by 25 celebrities such as Naomi Watts, Michael Keaton, Keira Knightley, and was auctioned off on eBay from February 14th-24th, 2005.
We are so grateful to Us Weekly for their promotion of the bag and the auction," Kenney said. The national attention the magazine brought to the project could not have been replicated in any other manner."
Us Weekly was equally pleased to be a part of this worthwhile endeavor. Us Weekly Special Projects Editor, Sarah Pyper, said it was a perfect partnership. Each company was able to utilize their resources for the good of a tremendous cause. We are very proud of all the people who worked so hard to make this project a success."
Luciana Sette, a Senior Manager with Save the Children, will be accepting the donation on behalf of the organization. Save the Children is thankful for the commitment these companies have put forth to help children affected by the tsunami rebuild their lives. This generous support allows us to do our job and to create real and lasting change in the lives of children in need."
Kenney said that the auction could not have happened without Kompolt, the online auction house that handled all details of the transaction. They are a marvelous company. We are grateful for all the generous enthusiasm they gave to this endeavor."
