Breast Cancer Ribbons to Kick-Start Charity Revival?

Bucking the recent fall-off in charitable contributions, breast cancer ribbons have been a soaraway success and have added millions to the coffers of struggling charities, possibly saving many from bankruptcy.

(PRWEB) April 6, 2005 -- In recent months and years, many charities have been feeling the pinch as charitable contributions have dropped to an all-time low.

That trend seems to have been swept aside as the phenomenon of breast cancer ribbons has swept the nation and, indeed the world. Designed as a tool to raise awareness of the increasing problem of breast cancer, pink breast cancer ribbons have appeared in many guises, from the simple pink ribbon, to diamond-encrusted jewellery pieces.

What is clear is that the concept of breast cancer ribbons has captured the imagination of the public and show no sign of slowing down. This is a Godsend for struggling charities and may just be enough to rescue many from insolvency.

National lotteries, domestic catastrophies and major international events and natural disasters have all contributed to the significant drop in revenues seen by virtually all charities, but particularly national and local money raisers. The virtually instant creation of international campaigns like the recent tsunami relief effort, whilst commendable and, in many instances essential, can have a disastrous effect on other charitable institutions.

The interesting thing about the breast cancer bracelet phenomenon is that it has embraced the internet as its means of distribution and bypasses the normal, revenue guzzling advertising methods such as TV and press advertising of old. This has allowed the charities involved to make it much easier to make contributions and to catch the eye of the charity-giver without draining the already low coffers.

Natural Health Information Centre (http://www.natural-health-information-centre.com/breast-cancer-ribbons.html) fully supports this initiative and encourages everyone to show their support for this crippling disease, which will affect 1 in 7 women in their lifetime.
