SportsCrewPoker.com helps rasing funds for The Shriners Hospital for Children

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) April 6, 2005 -- On March 28, SportsCrew.com and GamingClubPoker.com presented The Potentate and High Priest and Prophet from the Atlanta Divan of the Shiners Hospital for Children with a check for over $60,000.

These are the highest ranking Shiners in the North Georgia Region. Its pretty amazing all of the time and effort these men put forth and get no compensation in return", said R.J. Bergh, Poker Manager for SportsCrew.com and professional poker player.

This is the second event that SportsCrew has sponsored for the Shriners in the past month. Through both tournaments, over $100,000 has already been donated in 2005. Its an amazing thing, the Shriners Hospitals. A child gets injured or hurt and they accept no money from the family. While the players were playing for a great prize, they were playing for an even better cause", continues to say Mr. Bergh, he left the tournament with this closing statement: it feels good to be instrumental in such a great cause. We feel proud and blessed to having been able to help all these children."

These 2 poker tournaments are part of an effort by SportsCrewPoker.com, which looks to raise a total of $500,000 donated to different charity causes in 2005, including 2 more events for the Shriners Hospitals for Children and various more events in benefit of The American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Society, and Special Olympics.

The tournament was full of excitement and in a rush of blood to the head that only poker can give, Glenn Rezaee took home a seat in the 2005 WSOP main event; where he will contend for $5,000,000. On the final table, in a memorable heads-up play between James Moore and Glenn Rezaee, Rezaee was the first to make a move on the final hand, declaring all in. Moore immediately called. Moore flipped over King of Diamonds, ten of Diamonds. Rezaee dropped his pocket jacks on the table and the race was on. Flop came 4d3s6h, followed by the turn of Js, which left Moore drawing dead. After the chips were counted, Glenn had James covered by a mere 2000 in chips and is on his way to the 2005 World Series of Poker main event.

After all was said and done, the real winners were the children at the Shriners Hospitals for Children. We invite you to join us in this noble cause, please visit http://www.SportsCrewPoker.com and stay current with our events and offline poker tournaments.
