Second Annual Diversity Baisakhi Festival Set for Concord, California, April 16

The Baisakhi Festival welcomes the New Year and will feature colorful musical and dance performances, free ethnic foods and soft drinks.

Concord, CA (PRWEB) April 11, 2005 -- A coalition of local community and faith groups invite the public and press to attend the Second Annual Diversity Baisakhi Festival, to be held Saturday April 16, at Todos Santos Park in downtown Concord, CA, from 11:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m.

The Baisakhi Festival welcomes the New Year in the Punjab region of northern India and celebrates the brotherhood and sisterhood of the community. The festival will feature colorful musical and dance performances, free ethnic foods and soft drinks. Guests of honor will include the Honorable Mayor of City of Concord, Ms. Laura M. Hoffmmeister and Ms. Anu Chatrath, Mayor of the City of Chandigarh, India, and many more. Admission is free and open to the public.

The Baisakhi Festival is sponsored by the following organizations:

The Baisakhi Festival helps to celebrate the wonderful diversity of faiths and traditions that enrich the residents of Concord and Contra Costa County," said Dr. Harmesh Kumar, president of the FIA of Northern California, and founder of Therapeutic Residential Services, a non-profit corporation providing residential and mental health services to the mental and developmentally disabled, new immigrants, and seniors.
