The youngest court reporter at the Nuremberg war crimes trials becomes a human rights activist and still travels around the country to talk about the Holocaust at 80 years of age. Her book about the Nazi doctors' trial will be released soon.

(PRWEB) April 14, 2005 -- After being confronted by Holocaust denial, Vivien Spitz, who was the youngest court reporter at the Nuremberg war crimes trials, became a passionate activist, promoting Holocaust remembrance and international human rights.

Mrs. Spitz, now 80, tells her story in a long-awaited book, Doctors from Hell: The Horrific Account of Nazi Experiments on Humans. At age 22, she was indelibly marked by her experiences at the Nazi doctors trial, taking down the words of victims of Nazi cruelty and the doctors who caused their suffering. This landmark trial resulted in the establishment of the Nuremberg code, which set the guidelines for medical research involving human beings. The book is being released in time for National Holocaust Remembrance Week (May 1-8) and the 60th anniversary of VE Day (May 8th).

Doctors from Hell is a chilling story of human depravity and ultimate justice. This is the account of 22 men and 1 woman who tortured and killed by experiments they authorized in the name of scientific research and patriotism. Doctors from Hell includes trial transcripts that have not been easily available to the general public and previously unpublished photographs used as evidence in the trial. This is the only nonacademic book on the Nazi doctors trial.

Former president Jimmy Carter remarked of this book, In this personal account of her service in the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials, Vivien Spitz continues to contribute to the cause of human rights."

Since 1987, Spitz has spoken in 39 states, Canada, and Singapore and talked to more than 40,000 people. She has given more than 500 speeches to schools, churches, synagogues, and professional groups. She has been honored numerous times for her work, including commendations from Bill Clinton, Al Gore, US Senator Christopher Dodd, and the state of Israel. In her frequent talks she informs audiences of the cruelties of the Holocaust, the difference between good and evil, and the guilt of the silent bystander.

Doctors from Hell: The Horrific Account of Nazi Experiments on Humans by Vivien Spitz is distributed by National Book Network and is available at bookstores everywhere. Published by Sentient Publications, 1113 Spruce Street, Boulder, CO 80302, $23.95 hardcover, 316 pages, ISBN 1-59181-032-9, pub. date: May 2005.
