Cutting-edge web security breakthrough; ASTAV systems will attack internet fraud and dry up spam, prevent "phishing", and provide a vital barrier to the huge new threat of "pharming."

(PRWEB) April 14, 2005 -- While "phishing" incidents may have declined slightly in recent months, the threat to financial institutions as well as their customers has grown enormously as the bad guys get smarter.

The latest brand of internet fraud, "pharming," in which pages from genuine websites may be hijacked and redirect unwitting customers to extremely dangerous links may seem virtually unstoppable. Until now.

ASTAV inc., a small California startup headed by Dr Yonah Alexandre Bronstein, has just released three unique solutions - NOBOTS, OFFLIST, and NOPHISH which secure the front and back door of any website, or online email program. Not only will companies avoid growing financial losses, they will be able to regain their customer's confidence.

NOPHISHis a new and altogether secure login alternative that stops phishing attacks dead at the user interface, offering protection to users even if and when their passwords are compromised. It is a password-replacement technology as robust as existing hard 2nd factor solutions, without their cost and inconvenience.

NOPHISHwill simply retrofit into a legacy web login system. It is both inexpensive to deploy and remarkably easy to use, and has the effect of eliminating the need for passwords altogether.

Smaller banks and institutions can now create systems at least as secure as those of their large competitors.

About Astav: Astav inc., just leaving stealth mode, was incubated by WTRS, West Technology Research Solutions, a market research and consulting company focused solely on emerging technologies.

About Dr Bronstein: Yonah Alexandre Bronstein founded ASTAV in July 03 to fight spam and other Internet abuse, and leads it as President & CTO. Previous 5 years were spent as a senior scientist at HP Labs, focusing on Internet systems. He received a BS in mathematics, MS and PhD in computer science, from Stanford University, and an RC (reality check) from 6 years in Silicon Valley start-ups. His main career trophy is having led the 1st port of the Microsoft NT operating system to the DEC workstations, and his personal interests span from Jewish mysticism to Aikido.
