CollegeHelpers.com creates a network of college students and employers looking for part-time help by solving challenges faced at college student employment offices.

Wellesley, MA (PRWEB) April 18, 2005 -- CollegeHelpers.com was created by Babson Colleges Director of Campus Life, Fred Grant, to solve a persistent problem for most colleges – how to connect students with employers offering part-time off-campus jobs in an efficient, secure environment that minimizes college employee time. This service, which was piloted on the Babson campus, officially opened its doors to include other colleges in the Boston area for the 04-05 academic year. In addition to Babson, CollegeHelpers.com clients include Boston College, Wellesley College and Wentworth Institute of Technology, among others.

My initial goal was to assist Babsons Student Employment Office in managing the part-time job postings they were receiving from off-campus employers," states Grant. The number of postings they were receiving made it difficult to update and keep track of the postings efficiently. While building the site, I realized the benefit of the concept for other schools, students and employers. Automating this process through the Internet not only alleviates several challenges faced by offices maintaining job boards, it also creates new opportunities for students and employers that didnt exist before."

Many colleges manage their part-time off-campus job posting manually, either in three-ring binders, posting on a bulletin board or typing into a static webpage. Transitioning to CollegeHelpers.com requires about 15 minutes to setup and immediately allows colleges to begin using the services. Since we manage all aspects of the posting process, colleges are able to free up staff for more important job responsibilities," states Grant. CollegeHelpers.com also provides each participating institution with an annual report of all statistics as it relates to student and employer hiring, job searching, and posting patterns.

While the site is similar to other job board sites that connect employers and employees, CollegeHelpers.com focuses exclusively on servicing those employers interested in hiring only college students for their part-time jobs. Students benefit from not only searching for job postings, but also resume posting, email notifications of new listings, and access to jobs posted through other colleges. Employers also benefit from increased privacy, control of their postings and the ability to reach multiple schools in one location.

Use of the site is free for colleges and students. Not-for-profit employers and employers looking for someone to work in their home are charged $10 per month and for-profit employers pay $30 per month to post their positions. Additionally, a percentage of every transaction is returned to the participating colleges for their cooperation in referring students and employers to the site. CollegeHelpers.com is currently expanding its service to other metropolitan areas and additional information regarding the service can be found at www.collegehelpers.com.
