SMS Via Email - UnwiredEmail Opens SMS Text-Messaging To Email Clients

Unwired Appeal announced the launch of UnwiredEmail, a service that allows email clients (like Microsoft Outlook) to send and receive text-messages directly to and from cell phones across the USA.

Boston (PRWEB) April 23, 2005 -- Unwired Appeal announced the launch of UnwiredEmail, a service that allows email clients (like Microsoft Outlook) to send and receive text-messages directly to and from cell phones across the USA.

While email to SMS software has been on the market for some time, UnwiredEmail is a substantial improvement in that it sends and receives messages via direct intercarrier SMPP connections, unlike other systems that use the aging SMTP email gateways. SMPP messaging connections offer the highest reliability and minimized delivery times, crucial points when communications are time-sensitive.

From the mobile recipients perspective, there are also key advantages over wireless devices that incorporate email software. UnwiredEmail does not require a wireless internet connection; messages are received immediately whenever the user is in cell phone coverage. This means that a user can receive messages virtually anywhere in the USA with no need for high-speed data networks or wireless internet roaming agreements.

"We actually started this last year as an easy way for our clients to send SMS alerts to interactive event participants", recalls Stephen Nye, Unwired Appeals VP of Sales. More recently we had additional requests to enable cell phone participants to send SMS text-messages to email recipients. We simply put the two together and UnwiredEmail was born."

Dont throw away your Treo just yet. "UnwiredEmail was never intended to replace wireless email devices like the Blackberry or Treo", continued Nye. If anything they are complimentary, we position the system as service for businesses and state/local authorities to use for high-priority communications."

UnwiredEmail requires no software installation. Cell phone numbers can be easily uploaded or cell phone users can simply send an SMS message to be added to a messaging group. Pricing is on a per message basis with several inexpensive service plans. Its actually much less expensive than sending an SMS text-message from your cell phone at standard carrier rates", commented Nye, and we continue to drive pricing down while increasing functionality."
