Sports911.com Plans Massive Kentucky Derby Coverage

With the Triple Crown just around the corner, Sports911.com is planning massive coverage of the Kentucky Derby and will feature unparalleled coverage of all three horse races.

Miami Beach, FL (PRWEB) April 25, 2005 -- With the Triple Crown just around the corner, Sports911.com is planning massive coverage of the Kentucky Derby and will feature unparalleled coverage of all three horse races.

Most online bookmakers will agree that the baseball season in general tends to be unfulfilling with its lackluster betting activity and tendency to attract professional gamblers. Yet there are a few bright spots to an otherwise drab wagering season, the Triple Crown being one of these.

911 can only guarantee we will be as competitive as all the major horse racing sites out there
"Let's face it, horse racing is one of those sports that is unashamedly built around betting," commented Thomas Jensen, Marketing Director for Sports911.com. "The three races that comprise the Triple Crown bring out just about every horse bettor. It's their equivalent of March Madness and having the ability to bet online helps generate even more revenue for the (gambling) industry."

Traditionally, only a few offshore sportsbooks offered horse racing odds throughout the year and those that did required customers to bet via the phone. Today, many of the top software platforms allow gamblers to bet the races over the internet

"For us here at Sports911.com this is uncharted territory," explained Sports911.com Founder and President, Christopher Costigan. "We've never really delved into the horse racing industry ourselves and suddenly people are going to be served up a massive dosage of Triple Crown news. Our staff is prepared to deliver the goods though and we're fairly confident 911 will witness a surge in traffic over the course of these next few weeks."

Sports911.com's coverage of The Masters Golf Tournament generated a decent response but failed to translate into substantial conversions for sponsors.

"For whatever reason, despite golf's ever increasing popularity and being one of the most profitable sports in which to bet on, placing wagers on golf, even a big event like The Masters, hasn't quite caught on yet," Costigan stated. "With the Triple Crown we already know that probably somewhere around 9 out of 10 people watching it will likely have some money on the race, even if it is just $1."

And it is this propensity to bet small amounts that keeps 911 sponsors satisfied.

"We (Sports911) have a tendency to send many small players to our sponsor bookmakers," explained Jensen. "These are the guys - and gals - the sportsbooks love because they tend to keep coming back, provide some semblance of loyalty, and they won't cripple a bookmaker like most of the sharps do."

Among the coverage Costigan and his staff plan on featuring at 911, breakdowns of each of the solid contenders facing off in the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes along with some helpful betting strategies and potential irregularities that might favor gamblers.

The Triple Crown kicks of Saturday May 7 with the Kentucky Derby and ends June 11 with the Belmont Stakes. In between, The Preakness will be featured on May 21.

Since January of this year, Sports911.com's specific event coverage has garnered exceptional surges in traffic and unsurpassed conversion rates for some of the site's sponsors. Super Bowl and March Madness were obvious jackpots for 911 but the Academy Awards proved just as prosperous for both traffic and wagering interests.

"911 can only guarantee we will be as competitive as all the major horse racing sites out there," Costigan promised. "We can only hope that our efforts in this market generate the response anticipated."
