The third book in a series about the colorful characters and vivid descriptions of Wil Morgans world tells of the first settlements in the great Bigfork River Valley of northern Minnesota.

Grand Rapids, MN (PRWEB) April 25, 2005 -- Minnesota Author Ron Shepherd has just released his third book on what life was really like for the first men to enter the great Bigfork River Valley. River Chase" is set during the times of the big timber camps and trappers who made their living from the land.

In the early days of Minnesota, the first settlers were the river men who tamed the far north. There were trappers, farmers and some who made their living in the dark of the night. There were men who bought and sold as slaves, women, stolen from all over the globe. The descendants of these stolen women are still living in the far north of the state.

This author, for a lifetime, listened to the old lumberjacks and Anishinaabe people tell stories of a life few men knew. These were hard times lived by tough men and the tales told in the bunkhouses at night brought fear into the hearts of weaker men.

River Chase" is the third book in the series on a man named Wil Morgan, the son of a sailing ship captain and a school teacher. Wil had heard about white slavers, but when they took his mother, it became a chase to bring these men either to justice or hell and he wasnt particular of which. The book is filled with colorful characters and vivid descriptions of his world.

Ron Shepherd is a long time resident of Minnesotas Arrowhead region and as such has seen and paddled nearly every river in the northern part of the state. He is an artist painting in oils, a sawyer, a journalist and a professional photographer. He has been writing now for over fifty years. His other books, The River Calls" and A River of Seasons" were read and enjoyed widely by lovers of adventure books.

River Chase," ISBN 1-4137-6404-5 can be found anywhere good books are found and online at all booksellers. Further information can be found at www.ronshepherd.com and at www.authorsden.com.
