The Original Leftys Reveals New Collection of Cutting-Edge, Anti-War Themed Garments to A-list, Upscale Boutiques Nationwide.
Loa Angeles, CA (PRWEB) April 28, 2005 -- The Original Leftys began peddling their cutting-edge, anti-war clothing designs throughout Los Angeles nearly one year ago. In that short time, the line gained a substantial number of fans—including several A-list celebrities who have faithfully bought the outspoken designs, (including their most notable design to date, featuring George W. Bush wearing make-up similar to the band KISS). With the help of catchy, controversial slogans, celebrity endorsements, and demand for the line by top trendy boutiques (like Fred Segal and Antimarket in Los Angeles and top retailers in San Francisco and Florida), Leftys has managed to sell thousands of units, without major advertising campaigns.
After recovering from the disappointing results of the Presidential election, the young owners of The Original Leftys wasted no time working on Leftys 2.0—a new design collection set for release on April 4,2005. The second collection offers a much broader selection of clothing choices, including a series of hats, jackets, hoodies, and even a mock-collegiate sweater displaying a panic-stricken George W. Bush. After the disappointing election results, instead of packing up our bags like other political clothing lines, we decided to work harder to get our message across. After all, we feel that people need our clothing line now more than ever, as we have four more years of the Bush Administration," says Coridan Danziger, one of the companys owners.
While Leftys will continue to conduct business in the same manner, not relying on advertising to sell their clothing, they will get their messages across via strategically placed billboards throughout major cities. The first billboard was recently displayed in Echo Park over the sign that normally read, Welcome to Echo Park." Visitors entering Echo Park were greeted by George Bush in KISS make-up, with the caption, Diss Destroyer." Leftys Co-Owner and Art Director Ravi Dosaj (formerly a designer for Von Dutch, Third Rail, and Label Whore), carefully paints each billboard by hand. Art promotion and production house MMI is also working with the company, developing a series of large format modern art pieces based upon the lines artwork.
One of the most notable aspects of The Original Leftys is their commitment to non-profit causes. Over their first year, a huge percentage of money brought into the line went directly to several notable charities. In addition, two distinct high school grant programs have been set up by the company for philanthropic youth. The Original Leftys also made news in late August from their large donation of boutique garments to protesters at the Republican National Convention. As the new designs become available, the line will be spreading their reach to stores across the country and into Europe and Asia.
