Monument Vanishes from Hollywood and Vine for First Movie in Hollywood"

Monument for First Movie in Hollywood" disappears.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA (PRWEB) April 29, 2005 -- On May 6th, 2004, there was an amazing event for the dedication of the monument commemorating the first movie ever made in Hollywood back in 1910, In Old California" a Latino based film made by the Biograph Company.

Now, almost a year later, this historical monument is GONE! What happened to the monument remains a mystery.

the Los Angeles City Mayors office, as well as many civic and political people have been contacted in regards to the disappearance.

Thomas R. Bond, II (President/CEO of Biograph) We are shocked by the disappearance of this historical monument. Our political friends who helped support us as well are also amazed at what happened."

Many of the monuments supporters include Los Angeles City Mayor James K. Hahn, who proclaimed May 6th as Biograph Day" to commemorate the founding of Hollywood for the movie industry by Biograph, a State Senatorial Award presented by Senator Sheila Kuehl, and accolades from Congressman Henry Waxman.

Tommy Bond (Bond, IIs father) who is a Vice President in Biograph, and was the original BUTCH" in the Little Rascals states We are devasted about the monument. This is ridiculous! A six-foot monument vanishes? Many good people put a lot of hard work so this historic film would finally be recognized. Its impact on Hollywood and its multi-cultural theme bridges time. It was significant not just being Hollywoods first film, but the subject matter is about the Latinos in early in California".

The movie is a drama of Mexico-owned California, and is an insight into the life and times of the history of Mexico, Spain, and Mexican-Americans in California. Since this was the subject matter chose for the first movie in Hollywood, it shows the importance Latinos played in the beginning of Hollywood and the movie industry.

Biograph is the last truly independent film companies, involved in television and commercial production as well. Bond, II continues It is hard to believe something like this could happen, and we thank all the many people for their calls and e-mails, and concern for the monument. They will not be forgotten."
