Actress Johanna ter Steege to Play Mozarts Sister

Johanna ter Steege agrees to play Mozarts sister in new film on Nannerl Mozart.

(PRWEB) May 4, 2005 -- Dutch actress Johanna ter Steege this week agreed to play Nannerl Mozart, the musically gifted sister of Amadeus Mozart, in the upcoming biographical film, "The Wonder Child."

The film, to be directed by Heinrich Dahms ("My Daughter's Keeper," Miramax 1993) and produced by Peter van Vogelpoels Amsterdam-based Ventus Film, will be filmed on location in the Mozart hometown of Salzburg in early 2006 for a Christmas 2006 release; in time for the Mozart 250 Anniversary. Ter Steege, whose career was launched in the 1988 Dutch film, Spoorloos (George Sluizer), has played leads in a number of successful international films, including the recent "Rembrandt," "Immortal Beloved,"" Vincent & Theo" and opposite Glenn Close in "Paradise Road" (1997, Bruce Beresford).

"The Wonder Child" is the first of three films in the Wunderkind Trilogy on the lives of gifted, 18th century female musicians, including Clara Schumann and Fanny Mendelssohn, to be produced by Van Vogelpoel and directed by Dahms. The award-winning screenplays for The Wonder Child and Clara were written by American screenwriters Anthony Zaccaro and Miriam Queensen respectively. "The Wonder Child" also marks the beginning of a strategic partnership between Buzzmedia Network and Ventus Film for the production of up to six films to be directed by Dahms and produced by Ventus over the next four years.
