Serra worked with Super 35mm 2.35:1 format, and photographed the actual picture with an Arri 535 and Cooke S4 Prime Lenses. I didnt go very far with filtration or diffusion, I used a 1/8 Tiffen White Pro-Mist on very few occasions," commented Serra.
The film is about a young housemaid who becomes an unlikely protégé of 17th century Dutch Masters painter Johannes Vermeer. As she becomes the subject of one of his greatest works, The Girl With a Pearl Earring," their growing intimacy fuels jealousy and disorder in the Vermeer house.
