Sheik Omar Bakri, Defender of Osama Bin Laden, Threatens Kola Boof

Novelist Kola Boof receives new death threats from Osama Bin Laden's personal friend and chief defender, Sheik Omar Bakri Mohammad. Nation of Islam supporters phone Pacifica Radio to harass Boof.

(PRWEB) May 11, 2005 -- With the announcement two weeks ago that Sudanese-born novelist Kola Boof will reveal everything she knows about her former lover Osama Bin Laden in the upcoming autobiography, "Diary of a Lost Girl" and with the unveiling of a new poem she wrote to honor her slain friend, Dutch filmmaker Theo Van Gogh (http://poetwomen.50megs.com/catalog.html), came a flurry of threatening phone calls and gruesome pronouncements--including threats by supporters of Louis Farrakhan during and after a Monday appearance on KPFK Pacifica radio in Los Angeles.

Sheik Omar Bakri, a wealthy London-based Syrian politician and personal friend of Osama Bin Laden addressed a crowd in Slough, England. 10 days ago saying in Arabic that Kola Boof is a "known cannibal" who eats human flesh and that Boof used sex in doing her bidding for the SPLA (Kola Boof is the highest ranking woman in John Garang's SPLA and was instrumental in getting guns and ammunition from Israel in 2004 to arm Sudan's South Rebel Army).

He also said that Boof is a habitual liar seeking attention for her literary career, a fraud who never met Osama Bin Laden and a nymphomaniac who poses topless on the back covers of her books to entice American white men into having sex with her. Bakri, a Muslim hardliner who reportedly recently ordered that Pakistani leader Musharraff be killed, is also the chief defender of Osama Bin Laden's image and agenda, and promised his listeners that Sudan's "Queen Kola" will not live to see her sons grow up.

Kola Boof asserts that she also received indirect threats last week from Gamal Ibrahim, a Sudanese Diplomat who once wrote an entire article denouncing Kola Boof in London's largest daily newspaper, "Al-Sharq Aswat" (Political Analysts contend that the article itself was a death threat being that it's extremely unusual for entire articles in Arabic newspapers to be devoted to a female subject). Boof said today that her "contacts" informed her that Ibrahim has put out the word in London that "Kola Boof must be killed before she becomes too famous."

In a statement prepared this morning, May 11th, Kola Boof said the following:

"Let the record show that I am not the least bit afraid and that I do now and shall always publicly condemn the Arab Muslim governments of North Africa and the middle east for their racist, colorist Imperialism and for their evil brutality against women and against common sense itself. I wrote the poem about Theo Van Gogh from my heart, and the few times I spoke with him, my intuition was that he was a good man. My prayer always, as an African mother, is to see an end to the terrorism, genocide and slavery inflicted by the Arab governments. Because of Arab Muslim Imperialism, the continent of Africa has not been able to rise to its rightful place in the world and I continue to be slandered and threatened from Europe by my old arch enemies Sheik Omar Bakri Mohammad and Gamal Ibrahaim (a Sudanese diplomat) ... and if these ungodly cowards really want my new book to be a bestseller, then having me assassinated is the first thing that would guarantee it.

"The Nation of Islam should mind their own business and stop calling in to harass me each time I appear on the radio--if Louis Farrakhan can support the Arab regime in Sudan, then Queen Kola can support Israel. The bottom line is that my black babies come first, and for them I am willing to fight any man of any race and any religion."

Kola Boof, the mother of two sons, was born Naima Bint Harith in Omdurman, Sudan. In 2002, Sudanese officials issued an illegal fatwa against Boof and in 2003, publisher Russom Damba was firebombed in Morocco for printing her acclaimed story collection, "Long Train to the Redeeming Sin". Boof is an American citizen and the author of six books published in eight countries and was featured in Stephen Elliott's (Happy Baby) acclaimed American anthology "Politically Inspired". Although Kola Boof has not enjoyed the recognition for her writing that is regularly bestowed on mainstream literary darlings Z.Z. Packer, Zadie Smith, bell hooks, Terry McMillan and Toni Morrison, she has become a grass roots heroine of the black literary underground according to internet pop culture journalist, Ron Taylor, who says, "She's the most talked about, most revolutionary black writer we've had since James Baldwin, Alice Walker and Paul Beatty. She is to black literature what Lauryn Hill is to music. Her fans are extremely passionate about her."

On Friday June 3rd at 6:30 pm, Kola Boof will sign and discuss her latest novel "Flesh and the Devil" at KARIBU BOOKS in Prince George's County, outside Washington, D.C.

A video documentary about Kola Boof, including footage of Osama Bin Laden, will begin streaming Online at the same website on July 1st. Boof's memoir "Diary of a Lost Girl" is scheduled to hit the United States on September 6th.
