Penn Media To Produce Video Content For Web Distribution

Download this press release as an Adobe PDF document.

Penn Media announced today that it will begin creating video content to distribute through its Vidsense network. The first content clips will be based upon its flag ship e-zine publication, Bizarre News. Penn CEO, Jaffer Ali, stated,

MOKENA, IL (PRWEB) May 19, 2005 -- Bizarre News is one of the oldest e-zines on the Internet. It started in 1994 and we have chronicled over 20,000 absolutely bizarre stories that have occurred in the world since then. Vidsense creates a distribution outlet for the material we produce, so it is a natural evolution to produce short, humorous vignettes based upon the material we already own. Bizarre News has been one of our most     popular e-zines over the years with over 200,000 rabid subscribers who will want to see the bizarre come to life."

Penn Media has licensed over 100,000 hours of programming to distribute through its multi-pronged content distribution strategy. Penn recently announced its video portal at EVTV1.com as well as its video network dubbed, Vidsense. Vidsense allows any website to video enable their site with content by placing the proprietary Vidsense player onto its site. Relevant content is then streamed to the website. Revenues generated from advertising are shared with the website.

Ali continued, We licensed a tremendous amount of ‘legacy content to fill the pipeline of our growing distribution network but migrating the Bizarre News brand to a video format is a natural evolution. Bizarre News is a hip look at the weirdness that surrounds us every day and creating 90 second video stories will augment the content we have. It has a loyal readership and we believe this will translate into a loyal viewership."

The Bizarre News video clip will be featured once a week as an offering in the Vidsense comedy network of sites. There are presently twelve content channels that match website content. All content clips are preceded by a single video commercial that is either 15 or 30 seconds.
