Land, Ho: Seattle Tour Operator Leads Eco-Friendly Galapagos Land Tours

Galapagos land tours are becoming more popular, as eco-friendly options grow. Seattle tour operator Southern Explorations is leading the trend.

(PRWEB) May 20, 2005 -- While more and more Galapagos tour operators move to cruises as a way to visit the increasingly sensitive Galapagos Islands, Southern Explorations has a better answer: Ecologically friendly hiking tours.

The Seattle-based company offers more Galapagos land tour options than any other tour provider: Four basic tour packages, from seven to 17 days in length, with many extension options. Each tour uses the island's small hotels as a base for daily treks to see the island's diverse wildlife.

The basic tour is a seven-day hiking adventure around the island that begins and ends in Quito. In between, travelers see the Galapagos tortoise, marine iguanas and a host of other unique wildlife.

If you want a bit more variety, the nine day multi-sport adventure brings together hiking, kayaking, biking, horseback riding and snorkeling. Visitors experience the islands from the water and on land.

For the kayaker, the ten day Galapagos Kayaking Adventure is the perfect fit. Spend over a week exploring quiet coves, lava channels and brilliant white beaches, with hiking, snorkeling and horseback riding excursions as well.

The most diverse of the tours brings together seven-day trip to Peru and Machu Picchu and a four-day tour of the Galapagos. This tour also includes options that can extend your trip to up to 17 days.

Several extensions are available for every tour, including a stay at the famous Sacha and Kapawi lodges in Ecuador.

"The Galapagos Islands are a treasure." Justin Laycob, owner of Southern Explorations, says, "We need to preserve it, and let people see how unique they are, at the same time. Land tours are the best way to do that."

Southern Explorations is dedicated to cultural travel and expeditions that are beneficial for both the traveler and those living in the destinations. With extensive experience in Peru, Chile, the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador, Costa Rica and Bolivia, they combine breath-taking adventures, comfort and environmental preservation.
