Powerhouse Combination of Microsoft Navision with Owens Direct EDI Keeps Wyman's Blueberries Sweet

Wyman's ability to manage orders from companies like Albertson's, BJ's, Wal-Mart Super Center, COSTCO, and Sam's Club through EDI put it on par with the most progressive companies in the world

(PRWEB) May 24, 2005 -- Jasper Wyman & Son, in Milbridge, Maine (www.wymans.com) supplies wild blueberries and other tasty berries to some of the largest retail food stores and commercial food services in the US.

Wyman's chose Owens Direct to handle its EDI connections because of the system's ease of use and understandable pricing structure. According to Deanna West, in charge of Wyman's Accounts Receivable, "The Owens Direct system is very easy to set up. We just let our account representative know whenever we add a trading partner, and they take care of getting our companies talking together."

The company uses Microsoft's Navision software to manage its business and finances, and communicates product orders with its customers via EDI, which is supported by Navision. However, getting transactions to and from its trading partners requires a transport service that can move purchase orders, invoices, and other electronic documents between Wyman's and its customers.

"We had our software consultant write a program that relieves us of hours of work every week. If we had to print the orders and work with them manually, not only would we have to spend the time required to rekey each of them, we would also surely make mistakes that would cause us even more work and lost time."

Wyman has been using their system for about one year, and the transaction volume moving through the automated system continues to increase. "It's been well worth the investments. We've come out ahead."
